LOS ANGELES FRACTORA FOR HYPERHIDROSIS
take action.
Dr. Babak Moein is one of the few doctors in the country offering Fractora for the treatment of underarm sweating, also known as axillary hyperhidrosis. Dr. Moein has many years of experience treating underarm sweating with BOTOX®, but this new procedure offers patients a longer-term solution.
We offer convenient and easy appointments where you can learn about all your options for treating hyperhidrosis. You can schedule a consultation online or give us a call, and our friendly staff members will be happy to book your visit.
WHAT IS HYPERHIDROSIS?
Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterized by excessive perspiration in certain areas of the body, most commonly the underarms, palms of the hands, and feet. It’s estimated that 3.5 million Americans suffer from axillary (underarm) sweating. While all people sweat, sweat in excess of what’s needed to control body temperature can be a source of embarrassment and discomfort.
HYPERHIDROSIS TREATMENT WITH FRACTORA
Fractora uses radiofrequency energy combined with microneedling to heat subdermal sweat glands and stop the overproduction of sweat. It is a safe and effective way to dramatically decrease excess sweating in the underarm area. The device is also an excellent option for skin rejuvenation and scar treatment, with the same radiofrequency technology helping to improve skin texture from the inside out.
Hyperhidrosis treatment with Fractora usually only requires a single session. Treatment is performed after the armpit areas have been numbed with a local anesthetic. In most cases, our patients have completed treatment in 45 to 60 minutes.
There is no downtime following your treatment. You should gradually see reduced production of sweat in the treated area over the course of a few weeks.
FRACTORA VS. BOTOX
BOTOX can be an effective option for people with hyperhidrosis. It will help dry up hyperactive sweat glands, but to be effective, very large amounts (100 units per side) must be used and repeated at fairly frequent intervals (usually every 6 to 9 months). BOTOX works by blocking the nerve signals that are triggering the overproduction of sweat in the sweat glands.
Fractora instead targets the sweat glands themselves. The radiofrequency energy disables the sweat glands by overheating them. Because it destroys the glands, patients can experience a long-lasting decrease in excessive sweating after just one Fractora treatment. Fractora can be used in the underarm area, while BOTOX can be used in other areas of the body as well (hands and feet) if excessive sweating is present.
Fractora can be a cost-effective option to treat underarm sweating, given its long-lasting results. It also offers greater convenience since recurring treatments are not generally required.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR THIS SWEATING TREATMENT?
Patients for Fractora hyperhidrosis treatments should be in good health and have realistic expectations. Good candidates are suffering from clinical hyperhidrosis and have not been able to control their excessive sweating through the use of over-the-counter antiperspirants.
Dr. Moein will meet with each patient one-on-one for a consultation to perform a physical exam and evaluate their candidacy for this procedure. You’ll have an opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns about the treatment with Dr. Moein during this appointment.
RECOVERY FRACTORA HYPERHIDROSIS
You can carry on with your day’s activities immediately following treatment. Some swelling and soreness in the armpit area may occur in the first week after your treatment, but otherwise, all you should notice is a steady reduction in the amount of excess sweat being produced.
If you are tired of armpit sweating, bad body odor, and ineffective antiperspirants, you owe it to yourself to learn more about Fractora. For more information, please contact our friendly staff to book your appointment today.
