Liposuction was invented as a method for ridding the body of fat that won’t go away, no matter how hard you try. Because let’s face it. Blubber may keep you warm, but that’s precisely why clothes were invented. And fat may protect your bones. But unless you’re a stuntperson, you likely don’t need all that padding. Liposuction gives you a way to sim down when starving yourself and slaving away in the gym are simply not cutting it.
Now, there is an even better version of liposuction known as VASER Liposuction. If you have never heard of this technology, you will definitely want to pay attention. With VASER, sound waves are used to break up the fat before it is suctioned away. Want to know if VASER lipo is worth the money? This article is for you.
Because, as they say, when it comes to cosmetic surgery, you come as you are and leave as you wish. If you wish to be a slimmed-down version of yourself right now, VASER liposuction body contouring should be at the top of your to-do list.
But first, what is VASER, and how does it work?
What is VASER Liposuction Procedure?
VASER (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy and Resonance) liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure that aims to rid the body of stubborn fat in strategic areas. The technique is particularly useful for eradicating pockets of fat that do not respond to traditional diet and exercise.
The cutting-edge technology contours the body using ultrasound energy. The soundwaves break down and melt fat cells, making them easier to remove from the body. Like traditional liposuction, a cannula (thin metal rod) is used to suction the melted fat cells away. You can think of a cannula as a magic wand that whisks pesky fat that you have tried so very hard to lose out of existence.
VASER liposuction is performed in such a manner as to leave the surrounding tissues and blood vessels unaffected.
VASER liposuction was developed in March 2011 and is today used in various countries all over the world. It was employed more than 250,000 times in 2018 alone. The fat-melting technique is minimally invasive and FDA-approved as a body contouring procedure.
VASER lipo can be used under the chin, on the neck, as well as the upper arms, back, abdomen, flanks (love handles), buttocks, hips, thighs, calves, and ankles. VASER is also commonly used during gynecomastia surgery (male breast reduction) in cases where the condition is caused by excess fatty tissue.
Downtime after the VASER liposuction procedure varies. If you undergo VASER on your arms or chin, you can expect a fast recovery of around three to five days. VASER on the torso, on the other hand, can take up to two weeks.
How Does VASER Lipo Work?
Cosmetic surgeons performing VASER liposuction have the option of using general anesthesia, local anesthesia, or IV (intravenous) sedation. Once the patient is properly anesthetized, a tumescent fluid is inserted into the treatment area under the skin by way of tiny incisions.
The fluid has a couple of important roles. The first is to shrink neighboring blood vessels. The fluid also contains lidocaine, which effectively deadens the area to make the VASER liposuction procedure more comfortable. The tumescent fluid also leads to easy removal of the offending fat cells while simultaneously reducing the risk of bruising and blood loss.
Once the tumescent fluid has been inserted using threadlike tubes, a handheld device is implemented, which transmits ultrasound waves at high frequency. The sound energy loosens fat cells and melts them without upsetting connective tissues, blood vessels, and nerves. The suction tube (cannula) removes the liquified fat cells from the treatment area.

How Does Vaser Differ from Traditional Liposuction?
This is an important question and helps you see the value of VASER when compared to the regular suction-assisted lipo technique. Both procedures are similar in that a tumescent fluid is used before the melted fat is suctioned away. The difference lies in how the fat cells are loosened to make suction easier.
With traditional liposuction, the cannula is manipulated under the skin in a back-and-forth motion. Fat cells are like insects stuck to a windshield in a heavy wind. It’s tough to get rid of them.
Each swipe of the cannula releases more fat from the surrounding tissues, allowing it to be suctioned away. As you can imagine, vigorously moving the cannula under the skin can result in more pain, bruising, and bleeding. It also is not very precise and is usually meant for large pockets of fat, such as those around the abdomen.
VASER liposuction is minimally invasive. The cannula is only used to suction the liquified fat away. The high-powered sound energy does all the work to break up the fat before the suctioning begins.
VASER liposuction can be used to create natural contouring, often allowing the musculature to be seen underneath the skin. In skilled hands, the technique allows the surgeon to etch around each of your muscles like a sculptor creating his most aesthetically pleasing version of you.
The technique also tends to produce less pain, bruising, and bleeding when compared to traditional liposuction.
VASER can take more time than traditional liposuction and is not ideal for candidates with an elevated body mass index (BMI).
What to Expect Following a VASER Liposuction Procedure
Once the VASER liposuction procedure is over, you will be wheeled into a recovery area. You will be able to go home immediately if only local anesthesia was used. If general anesthesia was employed, you may be required to stay longer in the recovery area so that you may be observed for safety reasons.
In the days and weeks following the VASER technique, you can expect slight swelling, bruising, and discomfort. You should not feel excessive pain, however. Your surgeon will encourage you to walk often and wear a compression garment that can aid with healing and minimize swelling.
Is VASER Worth Your Investment?
VASER liposuction comes with an average cost of $6,700 and boasts an 89% Worth It rating, according to Self.com. The high-tech liposuction technique is permanent and comes with a range of important benefits.
More Advanced Than Liposuction
VASER Lipo is considered to be an advanced body contouring technique. The method of removing unwanted fat cells is less invasive than traditional lipo and leads to a lowered risk of damaged tissues and organs, as well as unwanted side effects. The fat is removed without disruption to tissue, blood vessels, and nerves.
A Simple Cosmetic Surgery Procedure
VASER Liposuction involves very few side effects. Unlike traditional liposuction, the VASER liposuction procedure can be completed with less time and stress overall. It can be performed with a range of anesthesia options. And the technique is also quick with immediately noticeable results, though you will need to allow for swelling to subside in a few weeks or months before the true results are revealed.
Easy Recovery
One of the biggest selling points of VASER Liposuction is the time to recover. While you do have to wait a while for maximum results to show, you can usually get back to your typical routine within a few days. You can look forward to minimal pain, bruising, and swelling following your procedure. And while all surgeries come with risks, the chances of side effects are low.
Potential side effects include skin burns by the ultrasound probe, the skin appearing dimpled or saggy following fat removal, and skin discoloration. Most patients experience very few side effects during and after VASER. You can further lower the risk of potential side effects by choosing your cosmetic surgeon carefully.
VASER is Precise
VASER Liposuction should not be thought of as a weight loss method. Using VASER to lose the last ten or fifteen pounds will not be effective. However, if you are looking to create chiseled abs or sculpted muscles, even a slimmer waist, ultrasound energy liposuction is the right move. Once you achieve results with VASER, your slimmer parts can be maintained by keeping to a stable weight.
Potentially Tighter Skin
One of the drawbacks of traditional liposuction is that you risk your skin becoming uneven after the fat has been removed. With VASER, the heat induced by the sound energy can tighten your skin, leading to a smoother look. Not only do your muscles become more contoured, but the skin appears tighter.
The skin tightening effect was highlighted in a randomized controlled trial that followed twenty female patients between the ages of 20 and 48. The patients in the study received VASER on one side of their bodies and traditional lipo on the other. The results found that VASER gave the women significantly tighter skin when compared to suction-assisted liposuction. Skin tightening does not occur with traditional liposuction.
That study also showed that VASER led to less overall blood loss, which brings us to our next point.
VASER is Safe
When performed by an experienced and trained cosmetic surgeon, VASER liposuction is considered one of the safest and most reliable lipo methods ever devised.
Can Positively Affect Your Metabolism
VASER has also been shown to improve your metabolism. A study in 2017 showed that overweight men who underwent VASER lipo experienced improved insulin sensitivity within months following the procedure.
Can Be Paired with Other Cosmetic Surgery Techniques
VASER can be paired with other procedures, such as the popular VASER Lipo 360 with Breast Augmentation and Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), as is shown in the video below:
Another popular combination is the VASER Liposuction, Renuvion, and Tummy Tuck.
Most People Love Their Results
Pranell Granger, rugby player and mom, shared her experience with VASER after undergoing the procedure at a clinic in Los Angeles, CA. Pranell said, “Am I happy with my results? Absolutely. Would I go back? Yes! I’d definitely go back; the aftercare was great, and the results are fantastic, so yes, I’d definitely go back. I’m happy I had VASER Lipo; I’m delighted with the results.”
Are You a Suitable Candidate for VASER Liposuction?
You know you are a suitable candidate for VASER liposuction if you have stubborn fat in certain areas of your body that will not budge no matter how much you diet or work out. You should also have an ideal skin tone with enough elasticity that will make your body more easily contoured. If you have loose skin, you may end up with flaccid-looking skin following the VASER liposuction procedure.
Finally, you should be in good general health without underlying conditions such as coronary artery disease or a weak immune system.
The Verdict: Is VASER Worth It?
Dieting can be a frustrating experience. You may limit your calories and eat all the right things only to end up starving. And, still, you might have pockets of fat that refuse to go away.
Then there is exercise. Working out does a body good. Any physical activity also benefits your health. But we’ve all heard that you can’t spot reduced fat. Well, guess what? With VASER, you can!

With VASER Liposuction, you can reshape your body and eradicate stubborn fat for good. When compared to other cosmetic techniques, VASER ranks at the top among the fastest and most reliable cosmetic surgeries currently available.
You can imagine that waving the cannula back and forth vigorously underneath the skin can be exhausting work. VASER was developed to reduce physician fatigue. While that may not be a major selling point for you, what may be attractive is the fact that VASER is more advanced than traditional liposuction.
The technique improves safety and efficiency and minimizes post-operative bruising, bleeding, and pain. VASER lipo also leads to faster recovery when compared to traditional liposuction techniques.
You can look forward to immediate results (though swelling does need to subside), a low chance of side effects, and etched muscles like you have never experienced before.
